Moss was born on February 13, 1977. He is an American footballer. He was a
player in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons , including the
Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and
the San Francisco 49ers. He is widely regarded as the best wide receiver in
history along with Jerry Rice, he holds the NFL single-season touchdown
reception record (23 in 2007) in addition to the NFL single-season record for
touchdown reception for rookies (17 in 1998) and is ranked second on the NFL
all-time regular season touchdown list with 156. Moss is famous for his ability
to catch contested passes. The term "mossed" which has entered the
football vocabulary, became popularized because of the fact that he was a
successful. Following his football career, he started working as a studio
analyst with ESPN for the Sunday NFL Countdown program and Monday Night
Countdown. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. Moss attended DuPont High School.
This was one of two schools later merged to create Riverside High School. He
excelled in basketball, football and baseball. Randy was also part of the
school’s debate team. Moss played a key role in leading the DuPont Panthers
football team to two consecutive state championships in 1992, 1993. Moss was a
renowned wide receiver. He also played free safety and punt return. He received
the Kennedy Award for West Virginia Football Player's of the Year in 1994.
Parade magazine named him to their All-American high-school football team in
1995 and in 2009 his name was named as one of the top 50 high school football
players ever.
